The American Indian Center recognizes native students for their success.

 

 

 

 

Congratulations to Leslie Locklear for being accepted into the PhD in Educational Leadership and Cultural Foundations program at  the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.

Leslie is a former Ambassador with the American Indian Center and is a participant in the inaugural cohort of the NC Native Leadership Institute.  Leslie graduated from UNC in 2013 with a degree in Elementary Education.  She is currently a student in the Master’s of School Counseling program at the UNC School of Education.

Congratulations to Chelsea K. Barnes and AC Locklear for being selected to participate in a Native American Congressional Internship through the Udall Foundation, a ten-week summer internship in Washington, D.C.

Chelsea is an Ambassador for the American Indian Center and President of the Carolina Indian Circle, a UNC student organization. She is currently a Junior majoring in Political Science and Interpersonal- Organizational Communication Studies with a plan to apply to Law school.

AC has also served as an ambassador for the American Indian Center while completing his undergraduate studies at Carolina. In 2013, AC served as President of the Carolina Indian Circle.  He is currently a first year Law student at the UNC School of Law.
