Dr. Marcus Collins

March 4, 2016

Dear Colleagues,

I am pleased to announce that Dr. Marcus Collins is the new Associate Dean of the Center for Student Success and Academic Counseling (CSSAC), effective March 1.

As associate dean, Dr. Collins will provide oversight for all units within CSSAC, including the Learning Center, Writing Center, Academic Counseling, the Office of Men of Color Engagement, Peer Mentoring, and the College’s Summer Bridge program. He also will continue his active collaborations with University partners within and outside the College to promote awareness of the CSSAC’s services.

Dr. Collins has been an assistant dean in CSSAC since 2001 and in that role served as director of the Summer Bridge Program. His Bridge students fondly look to him for advisement, guidance, and mentorship throughout Carolina. Dr. Collins has also served as interim director of the UNC American Indian Center in 2011-12. Originally from Pembroke, N.C., Collins is a member of the Lumbee Tribe. He currently resides in Durham with his wife, Rhonda, and their dog, Sonny.

He is much admired by his colleagues in CSSAC, in the Office of Undergraduate Education, and on our campus at large. We are so thrilled that he is in this leadership position.

Sincerely,

Abigail Panter
