The American Indian Center (AIC) received a $386,082 grant from the Winston-Salem-based Kate B. Reynolds Charitable Trust to extend their work through the Healthy Native North Carolinians Network. These fund contribute to the prevention of obesity and other chronic diseases among the state’s Native communities through the promotion of Healthy Eating and Active Living (HEAL) practices.

The Director of the AIC, Dr. Amy Locklear Hertel stated that “The American Indian Center is excited to continue the Healthy Native North Carolinians Network. This grant enables the center and our Native community partners to impact tribal HEAL policies, family lifestyle choices and cultural revitalization.”

The AIC is excited to embark on this new journey of growth and development of services within Tribal Communities and thanks Kate B. Reynolds Charitable Trust for providing this opportunity.
