Her awards are shown below:

  • Hayden B. Renwick Award – The Center for Student Success and Academic Counseling awards this for excellence in academics, maintaining above a 3.5 for the entire academic career at Carolina. Kayshel received this award every semester while at Carolina.
  • Outstanding Achievement in Rhetorical Studies – Kayshel was one of two recipients of this award. To be eligible, students had to be nominated and then voted on by professors and faculty within the Communication Studies department.
  • ROTC Medal – Kayshel received this for upholding all of their values defined by ROTC.
  • Certificate of Appreciation – Kayshel received this for her leadership position as the Air Force ROTC Liaison for the Carolina Veterans Organization.

In addition to thriving in the classroom and ROTC, Kayshel excelled in service to the American Indian population through her work as a Student Ambassador for the American Indian Center. Kayshel was with us for four years since the program started, making her our longest serving Ambassador. We, at the AIC, thank her for her hard work and dedication over the years. We look forward to what she will accomplish in the future.

Kayshel graduated on May 8, 2016 with a Bachelor of Arts in Communication with a Concentration in Rhetorical Studies and a Minor in Aerospace Studies. She is set to commission as an Officer into the United States Air Force, reporting to her first active duty location at Hurlburt Field Air Force Base of Florida in September.
