Carolina Horizons
Save the Date: June 12th-14th, 2025
Carolina Horizons Program Description:
Carolina Horizons is a “crash course” that prepares students for the college application process. Students learn about Carolina and establish personal relationships with college admission representatives across the UNC System. This program seeks to increase access to higher education and is designed to limit the financial burden of students who desire to participate in our program. Thus, the students are not required to pay for program expenses. However, we do ask that students are able to arrange their own travel to and from campus.
At Carolina Horizons students will:
- Begin filling out the NC Common Application
- Receive tips on writing college essays
- Start writing a college essay and receive feedback from admissions and college advisors
- Gain communication skills necessary when engaging with admission representatives and requesting letters of recommendation.
- Network with multiple American Indian staff from various universities across the state
Eligibility: American Indian rising high school juniors and seniors, with priority given to rising seniors.
Over that past ten years, over 200 American Indian students have participated in Carolina Horizons. This year, we are excited and look forward to a new cohort of students experiencing Carolina Horizons.
If you or any students have any questions about this program or need help navigating the application process once it opens, please contact aic@unc.edu.
